Pursuant to Article 223 of the Road Traffic Safety Act (Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia No. 133/2006 – UPB 4), the Inspectorate carries out inspections on the implementation of the provisions of this law and of the regulations issued on the basis of this law, which refer to the training of candidates for motor vehicle drivers and to the implementation of programmes for novice drivers. Entities carrying out the training of candidates and novice drivers must carry out this activity according to the prescribed training programmes. 

The inspection mainly focuses on:

• verifying status matters,
• verifying the staff requirements for carrying out training programmes,
• verifying the material conditions for carrying out training programmes and
• verifying the teaching process for carrying out training programmes.
