In the area of private security and detective activities and within its competence, the Inspectorate carries out inspections on the implementation of the Detective Activities Act and the regulations issued on the basis of this law. Inspections include the comprehensive control of the lawfulness and professionalism of the operations of private detectives and detective agencies. The inspection is mainly focused on:
- verifying licences for the performance of detective activities,
- verifying evidence of the fulfilment of conditions for performing detective activities,
- verifying the existence and keeping of records as stipulated in the Article 26 of the Detective Activities Act (contracts on the provision of detective services, collected information and reported criminal offences),
- investigating the performance of illegal activities and
- examining the manner in which detectives protect information obtained through the performance of detective activities or in connection with these activities.
