The Inspector General manages and represents the Inspectorate, organizes and coordinates the work of Inspectors and other employees, and is responsible within the limits of the powers conferred upon her/him for the legality, quality and efficiency of the work performed by the body. The Inspector General is directly responsible to the Minister of the Interior for her work and the work performed by the body she manages,
Mateja Rokvič, BA in Defence Studies, was appointed to the position of Inspector General on 1 February 2007, but had already been performing this duty as acting Inspector General since 1 September 2006. Prior to that she was employed at the Defence Inspectorate of the Republic of Slovenia where she performed inspections as an Inspector Counsel in the field of administrative and professional defence matters and in the field of staffing for the purposes of the Slovenian Armed Forces and the Ministry of Defence. She also performed internal controls in the field of protecting classified information in the Slovenian Armed Forces and the duties of an authorized officer of the minor offence authority in the administrative part of the Ministry where she managed staff matters within the Inspectorate and participated in preparing regulations, etc.
Mateja Rokvič completed numerous training sessions and exams in the field of management, public administration, inspection and the minor offence procedure. She is fluent in English and has a passive knowledge of Italian.
