The duties and objectives of the Inspectorate are based on the annual work programmes of the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Slovenia and on the laws and executive acts regulating the areas of work of the Inspectorate. Activities planned by the Inspectorate are focused on ensuring the professional, efficient and rational implementation of duties and achieving the planned objectives.
In 2008 the duties being performed by the Inspectorate will be focused on achieving 2 basic objectives:
1. efficient implementation of inspection in the field of private security, detective activities, firearms, ammunition and explosives, classified information and administrative affairs concerning traffic and
2. efficient management and decision-making in quick minor offence procedures.
Inspections are focused primarily on areas where a disregard of regulations may lead to the loss of human lives or may cause large material damage, and areas where regulations are frequently disregarded or not being implemented. The implementation of duties of the minor offence authority is directed towards dealing with current minor offence matters and the management of procedures for the forced collection of fines and expenses of proceedings of matters in which a final decision has been passed down.
